Staff needing to advise clients/tenants on whether they can claim HB and how much they are likely to receive.
NB - If you have very little knowledge of the benefit system we recommend that you attend our Welfare benefits overview course first.
What this course is about -
Do you want to feel confident about advising clients on housing benefit entitlement and the amount they should receive? Then this course is for you, whether your role is income maximisation, rent arrears minimisation or a bit of both.
We ensure that, by the end of the day, you know how to identify who is eligible for HB and how to make an effective claim. This includes accurately checking the start date of a claim and how to claim backdated HB. In addition you will learn how to carry out an accurate assessment of a client's entitlement, using a step-by-step framework for calculating HB. This will allow you to identify when clients are being underpaid or are not claiming the HB they are entitled to.
