Sheffield Mental Health Citizens Advice Bureau and Advocacy Service is a well established, innovative organisation with its roots in the local and regional community.

The service currently delivers three specialist areas of work to in-patients and service users in the community:

  • CAB Advice Work: Helping people to claim benefits that they are entitled to, manage finances and debts, deal with housing and employment problems and use training and leisure resources.
  • Advocacy: Helping people to put forward their views about the care they are getting from mental heath services including appointments with GPs, Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Community Mental Health Nurses.
  • Mental Health Act Representation: Representing people detained under the Mental Health Act at Tribunal hearings.

The service is recruiting for the following post: Mental Health Specialist Advice Worker (Part-time - 17.5 hrs) Salary: SO1 pro-rata £11,874 - £12,659 (actual) Minimum of 1 year's welfare rights experience including representation at unified appeal tribunals.

The Specialist Mental Health Worker will have an important leadership role within the advice service. The worker will provide high quality, holistic advice and information for people experiencing mental ill health.

The employer pays 8.25% pension contribution after 1 year (backdated).
