Camden Citizens Advice Bureaux Service in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Welfare Benefits Adviser with the necessary skills, enthusiasm and commitment to help deliver this highly regarded service for people affected by cancer.

The service, which has been running very successfully for over a year now, is based at the new Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre in the Oncology Outpatient Department at the Royal Free Hospital, Pond Street, London NW3 2QG.

A full time senior adviser is already in post and the service is in great demand. Funding has now been secured for this second adviser post.

You will need at least 9 months recent post training experience of advice work, including experience and knowledge of Welfare Benefits casework, particularly in the areas of health and disability.

The successful applicant will also have:-

  • highly developed communication skills for working in a sensitive clinical environment
  • an understanding of the issues facing people affected by cancer, including end of life issues
  • the ability to manage their workload in a pressured environment

Fixed term: 2 years (extension subject to funding) Shortlisted candidates will be given an opportunity to visit the service at the Royal Free Hospital, prior to interview.
