Macmillan Cancer Support and Wolverhampton City Council in partnership are launching a new Welfare Rights Service which will be based at Wolverhampton’s Macmillan Support and Information Centre at New Cross Hospital and will provide advice, support, information, advocacy and representation to people living with cancer, their family members and carers.
The service will also provide appropriate benefits training to other professionals and volunteers as required.
You must have recent experience of high quality advice in social security law and practice, and experience of regular and effective representation at tribunals.
You must be able to train others and have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
You must have the ability to design and produce effective information packages for both claimants and professionals.
You will be an employee of the Welfare Rights Service, Adult Social Care, Wolverhampton City Council on a fixed term contract for three years.
The project will be funded by Macmillan Cancer Support for a period of three years with a commitment from the Council to the continuation of the service thereafter.
