Welfare Rights Officer (Mental Health)

We are looking for an experienced and committed Welfare Rights worker to join our team to provide a dedicated service tailored to meet the needs of people with mental health problems.

The post involves carrying your own case-load and working closely with mental health professionals, acting as a consultant and providing training.

You will be expected to carry-out home visits and see people in hospital and other mental health settings.

You will need to have recent and proven experience and expertise in welfare benefits advice work.

Being able to undertake tribunal representation and advocate on behalf of claimants is essential.

In addition you should have a good understanding of the benefit issues involved with supporting people into work.

A sound appreciation of mental health issues would be important.

You should be able to work on your own as well as part of a team, and be committed to the promotion of anti-poverty and social inclusion work.
